Job Description: Under the direct supervision of the Division Chief and Senior Staff Members, the Post Doc Fellow / Research Associate will be responsible for running and maintaining a Cancer Tissue Repository. In addition to his/her primary responsibility, this individual will participate in ongoing research projects in Breast, Colon and Prostate Cancer in minority populations. The tissue repository responsibility is a long term commitment. Must have experience and interest in application of Cancer Stem Cell Culture Techniques. Should be able to troubleshoot, and resolve technical difficulties. This is a long-term career opportunity. Experience: Candidates with experience in Cell and Molecular Biology and/or Translational aspects of Cancer research. Demonstrate long term career goals in cancer research. Must be self motivated and have demonstrated some experience in: Cell Biology/Tissue Culture; Stem Cell Techniques; Protein/Gene Array; Tissue Mirco-Array; DNA Mismatch Repair mechanisms; Signal Transduction; Gene Polymorphism; and Mouse Tumor Models. This individual will work with the Division Chief and the PI of the Center to Eliminate Cancer Health Disparities at CDU. He/She will have a background in biological sciences with some experience in clinical research and/or clinical trials. He/She will assist in the ongoing human subject research in the division and the Cancer Center partnership with the UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center. This individual must have the ability to be independent, self starter and possess administrative skills to work with a team of investigators and community members. Must be able to work with local communities and private/public hospitals to recruit human subjects for ongoing and new studies. Must have excellent verbal and writing skills in English and preferably in Spanish. This individual will also be responsible for several administrative duties within the division.
