Molecular Biologist, temporary. At CK Science we are currently looking for a Postgraduate Biochemist / Molecular Biologist to work in the Cellular Systems department for this pharmaceutical company in the Hertfordshire region.
The role will see you working on generating reagents and assays for compound screening and the requirements include being well grounded in molecular biology and cellular signaling.
You will be educated to PhD (or equivalent) or have work experience, having the theoretical and practical knowledge of recombinant DNA techniques and of cell-based assay methods. It is also essential you have experience in gene expression and mammalian cell culture with knowledge of gene regulation assays preferable.
You must have good troubleshooting capabilities and be able to develop methods and procedures. The ability to interpret and analyse data is essential.
This is a temporary role for 12 months.

Research Biologist, Temporary. We are currently looking for a Biologist with experience in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and/or Immunology. You will be joining this Technology team and will have experience of the following techniques:
DNA manipulation techniques such as plasmid preparation, fragment subcloning and site directed mutagenesis.
Protein expression and purification
Evidence of handling E.coli as a host for recombinant DNA and proteins is required as is proven ability of applying these techniques in a research environment.
Experience of mammalian cell culture and biochemical assays would be advantageous but is not essential. It would also be desirable to have experience in protein analytical techniques such as mass spec and HPLC.
You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a biology related discipline and have evidence of research, preferably in an industrial setting.
This is a temporary position for 6 months.

CK Science are currently recruiting for a Mammalian Cell Culture Scientist to join a privately owned R&D company based in Cambridge, who specialise in mammalian cell culture and in particular the production of secreted proteins such as monoclonal antibodies or recombinant proteins.
Working to cGLP and cGMP, you will be developing and optimising processes for a range of cell types and micro-organisms. Specific Skills
Working technical and procedural knowledge of molecular biology, cell culture, and protein biochemistry:
Basic microbiology and molecular biology skills: PCR, restriction digestion, ligation, bacterial transformation, DNA plasmid production, purification, and characterization (gel electrophoresis, spectrophotometry, etc)
Mammalian cell culture techniques including routine passaging, freezing/expanding of stocks, stable and transient transfection, cloning by limiting dilution, and clonal expansion.
Protein characterization and binding assays: SDS-PAGE, Western blot, flow cytometry, and ELISA
Experience with conjugation of functional groups such as fluorophores to proteins and/or protein purification a plus. Previous experience working with antibodies and engineered antibody fragments also a plus.
