ABOUT THIS POSITION:
You will play a key role in developing novel assay technology and applications in the arena of biomarker discovery and molecular diagnostics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Develop and validate assays for high-throughput biomedical research.
-Design and perform experiments aimed to address key feasibility questions, optimize and troubleshoot the assays.
-Participate in development of experimental strategies and assay controls. Analyze and interpret experimental data.
-Establish robust workflows for the assays and assist in their transfer into production environment.
-Contribute to the development of patent applications and publish results of scientific research.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Ph.D. in Chemical Biology, Bioorganic Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related fields.
-Expertise in bioconjugation chemistry, and experience with standard molecular biology techniques as applied to assay development.
-A strong background in enzymology and / or data analysis is a plus.
-Exceptional track record of innovation and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
-Must have excellent communication and organizational skills and be meticulous and detail-oriented.
-Ability to work in cross-functional team.

Antibody Engineer, Temporary. CK Science are currently looking for an Antibody Engineer to join a global pharmaceutical company in the Hertfordshire region. You will have an intermediate level of experience in molecular biology and protein chemistrywith antibody engineering and in vitro display systems would be advantageous.
You will be a highly motivated, lab-based scientist to strengthen this successful team designing, creating and testing therapeutic antibodies. Working in a well-resourced and stimulating environment, you will influence the course of the projects through the provision of high-quality data, interpretation and advice.
You will have a demonstrated track-record of a broad range of molecular biology techniques. Experience of antibody engineering including; antibody gene manipulation (DNA cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, PCR, ligations) and expression in sterile cell culture techniques, selection processes and molecule characterisation is highly desirable. However, candidates with a track record of excellence in a related field will also be considered. Hands-on experience of in vitro display systems, high throughput molecular biology and protein biochemistry would be advantageous, as would prior experiencein the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
Since many of the projects involve close collaboration with other parts of the company, flexibility, the ability to work to tight timelines, good team working and clear written and verbal communication skills are also important.
You will possess BSc/MSc or PhD (or equivalent) in biochemistry/molecular biology or equivalent experience.
This is a temporary role for 6 months which may be extended.
