When the body has cancer and the condition spreads to any other part of the body, then the condition is called metastasis. The cancerous cells spread to other areas of the body via the bloodstream and the lymph nodes. Metastasis is very predictable and doctors thus are able to watch the other areas, which could be prone to cancer.
Mesothelioma conditions are not diagnosed till the disease has progressed to almost the last stage. So it is very natural for the cancer to actually have become a great metastatic disease by the time the condition is found out. There are stages of metastasis that affect the brain. Thus brain metastases and mesothelioma are inter connected. The cancer spreads to all the organs near the lung. This is known as local spread. While mesothelioma usually metastasizes locally, there are many cases of brain metastases.
Brain metastases and mesothelioma are visible towards the end stage of the condition. The cancer reaches the remotest corners of the body and the treatments are usually very palliative. The main purpose is to eradicate the symptoms and give comfort to the patient. The purpose of curing the disease is secondary. Treatments for conditions like these unusually occurring problems are usually more directed towards a cure and less likely towards a better effect when the cancer is diagnosed early. Many patients have also survived mesothelioma due to success with aggressive treatment options.
Normally metastasis of mesothelioma is such that it takes away the procedures of the initial treatments. So it is important to treat the cancer that is in another part of the body. Sometimes it is done with a combined effect of radiation and chemotherapy . All options of treatment are aimed at reducing the pain. The oncologist in question would suggest a plan of treatment, which is best for such kinds of problems.
Brain metastases and mesothelioma are inter connected and it is important that proper diagnosis is done for easy treatment.www.cancery.com
... Read On
