Ablatherm Ablatherm was developed in the early 90’s by the  partnership of Inserm–French Institute of Medical Research and EDAP TMS. It was derived from the technology of  High Intensity Focused Ultrasound which produces an irreversible and precise solidifying technique to destroy pinpointed tissue while keeping the healthy tissue surrounding the area. Ablatherm is also termed as Robotic HIFU because the device is specifically designed to be fully robotic as its advanced features guarantee to be safe and efficient with every treatment encounter. It is minimally invasive and has only very few side effects discovered, but the quality of life is being continued for patients undergoing this treatment. Ablatherm HIFU For the treatment of advanced prostate cancer, Ablatherm HIFU was the very first High Intesity Focused Utrasound device that has been recognized with a CE mark in 2000. Year 1993 was the first time Ablatherm HIFU was used to treat a patient with advanced prostate cancer. The Ablatherm HIFU utilizes separate crystals for image capturing and treatment. The quality image of the prostate is produced by the real-time 7.5 MHz transducer. The precise frequency for ablatherm operation in prostate treatment is 3 MHz. For the actual treatment, a particular probe  with 45mm focal point from the crystal is being used. The probe produces an ablation volume which can then be adjusted from 19 mm to 26 mm (anterior to posterior). The special design of its probe improved by a motorized 3D movement allows the probe to be inserted comfortably into the rectum of the patient. The probe is controlled with stepper motors of high precision and encoders. The treatment can be paused if deemed necessary for patient’s safety. Ablatherm Designed Treatment Ablatherm HIFU comes with a uniquely designed treatment module that allows patients to be placed in their most favorable position (right lateral decubitus) to prevent the ultrasound waves to produce gas bubbles. Additionally,  Ablatherm HIFU probe support and controls are included in the treatment module to allow better probe movements. Highly skilled physicians are in charge of controlling the Ablatherm HIFU treatment from the control component using  the Ablaview software that provides physicians with a better actual view of the process in order to plan, execute and verify the treatment procedure. The use of Ablatherm HIFU is recognized in countries like Canada, Europe, Australia. South Korea, and Russia. Other countries are already considering the use of this Ablatherm HIFU in terms of advanced prostate cancer treatment.hifuprostatecancertreatment.com
