Starting this fall, San Jacinto College will offer a brand-new program, Mexican American studies, comprised of Mexican-American history, politics, humanities, literature, art and linguistics. Student may pursue an associate degree in Mexican American studies.

This fall, Rowan University will offer a bachelor of arts degree program in elementary education/writing arts on Camden County College’s Blackwood Campus.

Pima Community College’s Northwest Campus is offering faster options to complete an associate’s degree, a release said. The accelerated degree options are “ideal for busy working adults to complete a degree for transfer to a university in two years,” it said.

As colleges welcome a record number of students this fall, they are taking steps to ensure more students actually complete a degree. College enrollments have been on the rise for decades, but the proportion of students who earn a bachelor’s degree within five years has stagnated at about 52%, down from 55% in 1988, says a report due this fall by the College Board, owner of the SAT.
